In 5 VIE District, which will animate the Fuorisalone events in the heart of the city, the design gallery Secondome and the studio PS Design Consultant will open the doors of the historic home of the Milanese nights with the event “Ladies and Gentlemen“.
Among the protagonists, the collective exhibition includes .exnovo, that presents the latest creation signed by the American designer David Nosanchuk. The pendant lamp BIG Louie is a celebration of innovation, design and architectural history. Inspired by Nosanchuk’s love of late 20th century American architecture, Louie is born from a 3D scan of the Facade of the Bayard Condict Building, Louis Sullivan’s (father of modern architecture and known for his words “form follows function”) first skyscraper and only NYC work. After laser mapping the building, Nosanchuk selected an ornate cornice element above the entry arch to explore it as a hanging light. Selecting a scanned element from the building facade, Nosanchuk converted the scanning map into a printable tracery that was a form and a skin, yielding an object full of lightness from one of stone.
The light glows from state of the art of micro LED, hidden from the eyes. After the presentation of the first prototype of Louie last year, during the Milan design week, the Trento-based company presents now the hanging lamp in its “BIG” version. The BIG Louie lighting sculpture, an heterogeneous and intriguing set of lines and points, best represents the exaltation of the complexity of the shape and the unlimited creativity, which only 3D printing technology allow to reach.
